Genuíno Madruga is a Portuguese fisherman from Azores Islands who sails now for the second time alone around the world.
He is a respected 57 years old man who was national honoured after his first voyage alone around the world as a “Comendador” of the Order of Henry The Navigator, by the President of the Portuguese Republic.
His first adventure took place from October the 28th, 2000 until May the 18th, 2002.
For the present expedition, Mr Genuíno Madruga left Pico
Madruga’s “Hemingway” CU7AX companion may be followed on line at any moment of this second expedition. One may write CU7AX, Yacht Live-Ticker radio call sign, right in the map window top left of the screen, and let the vessel be searched by a simple click on Yachtfinder. Or you may just double click on “Hemingway” CU7AX.
On Sunday the 13th of January 2008, Hemingway just left Comodoro Rivadavia harbour in Patagonia region, South Argentina, sailing to join in an east-west sense and leave backwards successfully the so dangerous as mystic Cape Horn.
At any Port he does visit, Mr Genuíno Madruga always meets the Portuguese and local communities, in numerous very life full friendly and cultural meetings, acting indeed as an informal ambassador for the Azores and Portuguese language, culture and world wide Diaspora.
